The Organ
In 1982, a 1904 Henry Pilcher & Sons pipe organ was dismantled at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, Ohio and donated to St. James. More than 20,000 disassembled pieces were lovingly reassembled by parishioners. In 1998, a rebuilt organ was installed by the Roy Redman Organ Company of Fort Worth, Texas, utilizing pipes from the Pilcher organ with a key desk, pedal board, and tracker chassis from a Lyon & Healy organ built in 1901 and originally installed in the First Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas.
There are two keyboards (a great and a swell) of 61 keys each and a pedal board of 30 keys. The organ has 12 independent ranks of pipes and 3 ranks completed by extension from another rank. The instrument is also equipped with 3 couplers, which enable stops from one division (swell, great, or pedal) to be played from another division.
