There are many ways to give at St James
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion,

Help Give the Gift of Debt Relief
St James is again participating in the Taos Medical Debt Relief Project. Multiple faith communities from the area join together and partner with Holy Cross Hospital to purchase and forgive debt before it is purchased by debt collectors. The hospital curates the accounts to sell us the most noncollectable, most devastating, and most impactful debts. That means that we are buying debt that someone owes for an emergency room visit, or an out-of-pocket OB GYN visitation, or some tests from a cancer scare.
Each account is vetted by the hospital to see that good will be done by our purchase and forgiveness. The average bill is around $250.00. That may not seem like much to you and me, but to those who receive this gift it means relief going into the holidays. It means the phone won't ring during dinner with a collection agency on the other end. It means that they may see the abundance of grace around them and participate just a bit more in that great gracious economy.
St James has sent our gift of $7,500, which should buy around $25,000 worth of debt to forgive.
You can participate by sending a check to St James Church with Rector's Discretionary/Medical Debt on the memo line. Mail to: 208 Camino del Santiago, Taos, NM 87571
We will write an additional check if we receive more than that which we have given.
Let us be the people who love first by forgiving what we can forgive. Mac+

School Supplies for Foster Children 2020
Janelle Palma has been in touch with the CYFD (Children, Youth and Families Department) of Taos to obtain a list of foster kids who will need supplies for school. CYFD will do the shopping for us if St. James parishioners will foot the bill. CYFD has backpacks in storage so we only need basic supplies.
We hope that once again our generous congregation will donate $$ to the drive.
Mail checks to St. James Church
